These terms govern your use of thenilstandard.com (the “Site”), operated under the name The NIL Standard. By using the Site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.
1. What The NIL Standard publishes
The NIL Standard publishes independent, model-driven estimates of college athletes' NIL market value, along with related editorial analysis. Our valuations are estimates produced by our own methodology. They are not actual contracts, salaries, payments, or reported deals, and they are not provided, reviewed, or endorsed by any athlete, school, collective, conference, or the NCAA. Where a figure reflects a publicly reported deal, we attribute the source on that player's profile. The NIL Standard is an independent publication and is not affiliated with the NCAA or any university, conference, team, or athlete.
2. The numbers are estimates — don't rely on them for decisions
Our valuations are for general informational and editorial purposes only. They are not financial, legal, contractual, or professional advice, and they may differ — sometimes substantially — from any amount an athlete is actually offered, paid, or worth. Do not use our figures as the basis for any financial, contractual, recruiting, negotiation, or other decision. If you need advice for an actual decision, consult a qualified professional.
3. No warranties
The Site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose. NIL is a young and opaque market with limited public data; while we work to keep our estimates and information reliable, we can't and don't guarantee they are correct or current.
4. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The NIL Standard and anyone associated with it will not be liable for any damages arising out of or relating to your use of, or reliance on, the Site or its valuations. Your use of the Site is at your own risk.
5. Our content
The valuation model, the valuations, the written analysis, and the design of the Site are the property of The NIL Standard. You're welcome to read, share links to, and quote briefly from the Site with attribution. You may not scrape, copy, republish, or commercially reuse the model or substantial portions of the content without our permission.
6. Names, logos, and images
Team names, school names, logos, athlete names, and athlete images that appear on the Site are the property of their respective owners. They are used here for identification, reference, and editorial commentary only, and their use does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by those owners. If you own rights in material that appears on the Site and want it addressed, see “Reporting a concern” below.
7. Corrections, disputes, and removal
If you're an athlete, parent, agent, or program representative and you want to correct, dispute, add to, or remove a valuation, we have a direct channel for that at /verify (high school recruits and their families should start at /see-your-number). You can ask us to replace your individual number with “Private” or request a fuller removal, and we honor reasonable requests.
8. Reporting a concern or takedown request
To report a copyright, trademark, privacy, or other concern about material on the Site, email legal@thenilstandard.com. Tell us what the material is, where it appears, and the basis for your concern, and we'll review it and respond. (We publish our own editorial content rather than host user-uploaded material, so this is a direct contact channel, not a formal DMCA-agent designation.)
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the “last updated” date above. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
