The NIL Standard publishes estimated NIL valuations for Power 4 football and Power 4 + Big East men's basketball rosters. This page explains what those figures are and how they may be used.
The short version
Quoting our numbers in your coverage? Yes, please — credit The NIL Standard and link back. Building a product or paid analysis on them? That requires a license — and we'd like to hear from you.
What our figures are
TNS valuations are estimates, produced by our published methodology from inputs such as publicly reported deal information, on-field production, and positional market value. They are not confirmed contract terms, verified payroll data, or statements of any athlete's actual compensation. Please present them accordingly: as estimated valuations attributed to The NIL Standard, never as established fact.

Editorial and press use — free and encouraged
Writers, reporters, podcasters, broadcasters, and newsletter authors are welcome to reference our valuations, rankings, and team totals in articles, commentary, and coverage without asking permission. We ask three things:
- Credit The NIL Standard by name.
- Link to thenilstandard.com or the specific page you drew from, where your medium allows. (A verbal credit is fine on air.)
- Frame figures as estimates — “according to estimated valuations from The NIL Standard” — not as confirmed salaries.

Academic and research use
Cite us as you would any published source. If your work needs structured or bulk data, contact us — we make reasonable accommodations for non-commercial research.
Commercial use — licensed
A data license is required to:
- incorporate TNS valuations into any product, application, tool, dashboard, model, or dataset, whether public or internal;
- use TNS valuations as an input to paid analysis, client deliverables, or services offered to third parties;
- collect our data systematically or in bulk, including by scraping or automated means; or
- redistribute TNS valuations or derivative datasets built from them.
Crediting The NIL Standard does not substitute for a license — attribution and licensing are separate questions. Licensing arrangements are flexible, from season-start snapshots to ongoing access, and are structured for organizations of different sizes. Inquiries: legal@thenilstandard.com.
Automated access and AI
Automated collection of TNS content or data without a license is not permitted. Use of TNS content or data to train, fine-tune, or evaluate machine-learning or AI systems requires prior written permission.
No warranty
TNS content and data are provided as-is. We work hard to keep our estimates well-calibrated, but we make no guarantee of accuracy or completeness and accept no liability for decisions made in reliance on them.
